Local election FAQ

Why are there TWO elections this spring?
The local election held each May is different from the primary election that will be held in March 2024. While the primary election’s purpose is to select candidates for the November general election, our local election in May features only nonpartisan races for local positions. There are no primaries for the May local election. Whoever wins the races in May will serve on city council almost immediately after the election is canvassed.

Who can vote in the May local election?
The election is open to all registered voters who reside within the City Limits of Kerrville. The last day to register to vote in the election is April 4. Register to vote by visiting Vote 411 at this link: https://www.vote411.org/register

Will I be harassed or approached at the polling place?

Thanks to a new ordinance passed by the City Council in 2023, voting in the citywide election will be much less stressful for citizens. The candidates and their entourage are no longer allowed to erect tents or approach voters in the parking lot close to the entrance. Voting in 2024 will be much less stressful!
